The coin is a genuine Spanish "piece of eight" from 1740 AD. The 1650s to the 1740s is a time often referred to as the "Golden Age of Piracy" when maritime piracy was a significant factor in the histories of the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, the Indian Ocean, North America, and West Africa. This piece of eight was often fought over the high seas as the likes of Anne Bonny, Ed "Blackbeard" Teach, and the fierce Rahmah ibn Jabir al-Jalahimah rules the oceans.
Minted from sterling silver, this coin is a classic in excellent condition.
We set this unique centuries-old piece in sterling and accompanied it with a cast sterling shark tooth for a collected look. On an airy sterling silver chain. The silver has been darkened and satin-finished.
