Alexa Von Suess
SAWING: STATEMENT EARRINGS | 6/24/21
Did you take our Intro to Silversmithing class? Are you hungry to learn more?
In this workshop, we will be exploring sawing - also known as "piercing" in jewelry. An essential skill for any jeweler, we'll focus on designing a pair of statement earrings in brass or copper. This process will include designing for comfort and aesthetics, planning your design, sawing, drilling, filing, and texturing your pieces, and then assembling with sterling ear wires. This class does not involve flames or torches so it's great for those who may be uncomfortable with fire. Prerequisite of "Intro to Silversmithing - Stacking Rings OR Intro to Silversmithing - Boho Bangles" with Alexa Suess is required.
We are currently running at half capacity for all workshops and lectures to increase the opportunity for social distancing. You will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of this class. Please note that you may end up in close quarters with another person should you have to pass one another in our narrow space. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above, PLEASE refrain from signing up. There will be more opportunities to learn! We promise!
Since we will be working with hand tools and treatment chemicals, please wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty.
This will be an approx 3-hour workshop. Workshop location: Common Ground, 29 Front St Greenport, NY 11944
