Aquamarine is a beautiful blue variety of the mineral beryl. (Emerald is the green to bluish green variety of the same mineral.) Some of the best specimens come from Brazil and Pakistan. This particular one formed in a field of golden muscovite mica.
The name “aquamarine” is derived from two Latin words: aqua, meaning “water,” and marina, meaning “of the sea.” Spiritually, it's known to be strong and powerful - the embodiment of the ocean and all of her unmistakable moods.
