Indian Rhodochrosite Slice Specimen
A fascinating stone with a really interesting look. Rhodochrosite has a variable chemical composition of manganese carbonate, but the manganese is frequently replaced by iron, magnesium, or calcium giving it its distinctive pink color variation. While it is rare for rhodochrosite to grow in botroiydal formations - almost bubbly circles - they do often form concentric bands in veins that can easily be seen when cut and polished like this specimen was.
The most common rhodochrosite deposits are located in Argentina but smaller deposits can also be found in India, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and the United States.
Spiritually, rhodochrosite is often referred to as the "stone of love and balance." It is believed to have a powerful effect on emotional healing, helping to release emotional wounds and painful memories.
