Alexa Von Suess
Intermediate Stone Setting: Bezels
We will be taking a detailed look at bezel setting a pendant - a method of setting flat backed stones in bands of silver for a clean and classic look. This process will include measuring your bezel for an optimum fit, soldering your bezel to a backplate, sawing sterling sheet, filing, fitting a bail into your piece, texturizing, finishing, and setting your stone. All supplies are included. Prerequisite of "Intro to Silversmithing Rings OR Claw Setting" with Alexa Suess is required. A variety of stones will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own cabochon (flat-backed stone) provided it is a rounded/oval/freeform shape between 10-20mm. A variety of chains will be available to purchase from but you may bring your own as well.
Since we will be working with hand tools and treatment chemicals, please wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty. We do not recommend attending this class if you are pregnant.
This will be an approx 4 hour workshop. Workshop location: Common Ground, 123 Main St. Ste C, Greenport NY 11944. Due to insurance requirements, all attendees must be 18 years of age or older.
