The Fibonacci Sequence is a famous mathematical sequence where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. Though the man who pioneered the concept wasn't even named Fibonacci (his name was Leonardo of Pisa!) the name stuck through the ages and it's still used today to describe 'spiral' or 'additive' aesthetics.
